Indoor Track and Field Runs at Appalchian State on Friday

UNC Asheville Track and Field Teams Compete at Big South; Haake Earns Points in Javelin

RADFORD, Va. ? The UNC Asheville men's and women's Track and Field teams were in action on Thursday as the New Balance Big South Conference championships began at Cupp Stadium on the campus of Radford University.

 

Scoring points for the Bulldog men's team was Simon Haake. He finished seventh in the javelin with a throw of 55.56 meters.

 

On the women's side, Erin Putnam came in 12th in the 10,000 meters at a time of 42:46. Freshman Mackenzie Wheaton was right behind her in 13th at 42:59.

 

Rebekah Pineda took 13th in the hammer throw (36.09). Senior Morgan Weeks competed in the heptathlon that started on Thursday. She competed in the 100 hurdles, 200 dash, high jump and shot put.

 

In men's action, Will Beasley finished 12th in the long jump (6.32). In the hammer throw, Keith Scruggs took 12th (42.52), while Daniel Corriher came in 16th (38.12).

 

Day two of competition of the Big South Conference championships begins at 11 a.m. on Friday.  Stadium begins at 11 a.m. Friday.
