Bulldogs Drop Match to Presbyterian, 4-3

CLINTON, S.C. - The UNC Asheville men's tennis team fell to Presbyterian 4-3 at the Templeton Courts Tuesday afternoon.
The Blue Hose picked up the doubles point by winning two of the three matches. PC's pairing of Michael Nicol and Patrick Fediuk eeked out a 9-8 victory over Joe May and Nicolai Nonnenbroich in the No. 2 match. Alex Appelt and Nathan White won the Bulldogs' lone doubles match as they defeated Andrew Lee and Brad Luciuk 8-4 at No. 3.
Asheville picked up three victories in singles play. Mauricio Correa defeated Matthew Martin at No. 1, 6-2, 7-5. In the No. 4 match, White won 7-5, 6-1 over Zachary Sprouse. May beat Lee in three sets, 6-1, 5-7, 6-2 at No. 4.
Presbyterian picked up the overall match victory as Mark Cannnatelli defeated Appelt, 6-2, 7-6 in the clinching No. 6 match. The win is the first ever Big South victory for the Blue Hose.
The Bulldogs fall to 3-13 overall and 0-4 in the Big South with the loss, while Presbyterian moves to 4-9 and 1-2 in the conference.
Asheville returns to the courts on Friday as it travels to Rock Hill, S.C. for a match against Winthrop at 2:30 p.m.
