ASHEVILLE, N.C. - East Carolina won all six singles matches and earned the doubles point in a 7-0 victory over UNC Asheville on Saturday evening at the Asheville Racquet Club.

The win improved the Pirates' dual record to 2-0, while the Bulldogs dropped to 0-2.

In doubles play, UNC Asheville's pairing of Mauricio Correa and Jonas Brobeck nearly knocked off ECU's Denis Ermilov and Jaroslav Horvath. Correa and Brobeck were eventually defeated 9-8.

For the second straight week, Nicolai Nonnebroich played a three set singles match. The freshman from Mougins, France defeated Ermilov 6-4 in the first set, but Ermilov won the second set 6-4 and the third 1-0 (8).

The Bulldogs play again today at 5:00 p.m. at the Asheville Racquet Club against Appalachian State. East Carolina returns to action on Friday at Old Dominion.
