Women's Soccer Has Four Honored by Big South

CHARLESTON, S.C. - The UNC Asheville women's soccer team had four players honored by the Big South Conference in its all-conference voting. The announcement of the all-conference and all-academic teams were announced at the annual awards banquet held Wednesday evening.
The Bulldogs placed two members on the league's second team as freshman forward Chole McCleary-Small and sophomore defender Mary Kate Tucker made the team. Small was Asheville's leading scorer in 2009 with four goals and nine points. Tucker headed up a defense that allowed only 16 goals in 16 matches. It was the second straight year for Tucker to make the league's second team.
Freshman midfielder Hannah Jeske started all 16 matches for the Bulldogs this year and was Asheville's lone representative on the all-freshman team.
Senior goalkeeper Veronica Lazar made the league's all-academic team for the second straight year. Lazar led the conference in goals against with a 0.84 average and finished her career with 12 shutouts. She has a 3.70 GPA and is majoring in Health & Wellness.
