Bulldog Women Fall 78-67 to Campbell

Asheville (2-2) was led by Kendall Shepard who scored 15 points. Lindsey Thompson had 14 points while Chioma Okoli added 11 points and eight rebounds. Kelli Riles had seven points and a season-high nine rebounds for the Bulldogs.
Campbell (3-1) placed four players in double-figures led by 16 points and eight rebounds from Ashley Williamson. Monique Spry had 13 points, Geami Britt had 12 points and Courtney Cannon added 10 points for the Camels who are 2-0 on the road this season.
With the game tied 13-13 eight minutes in, Campbell went on a 15-4 run over to build a 28-17 lead at the 7:56 mark. The Bulldogs never got closer than eight points the rest of the game. Asheville had chances to cut into the lead but he Bulldogs went 4-for-13 from three-point range in the first half and shot 32 percent from the floor while the Camels went 6-for-10 from long range and shot 56 percent from the floor.
Campbell had the lead at 16 points before Thompson hit a three-pointer at the end of the half to cut the lead to 44-31 at halftime.
Campbell grew the lead to 18 points (65-47) with 9:20 remaining before Asheville went on an 8-0 run to pull to within 65-55 at the 6:52 mark. The Bulldogs had a chance to get the lead to single-digits but missed a three-pointer and the Camels had a pair of lay-ups to push the lead back to 14 points.
The Camels finished the game shooting 48 percent from the floor while the Bulldogs shot 35 percent from the floor.
The Bulldogs will go on the road for their next three games beginning on Saturday, Nov. 28 at USC Upstate. The 3 p.m. game can be heard on AM-1310 WISE in the Asheville area.
