Bulldog Tennis Teams Begin Fall Season at Brevard Fall Classic

Men's Tennis to Take on East Carolina and Appalachian State this Weekend

ASHEVILLE, N.C. ? The UNC Asheville men's tennis team will host East Carolina in its home opener on Saturday at the Asheville Racquet Club at 5 p.m. On the following day, the Bulldogs will face Appalachian State at the Asheville Racquet Club at 5 p.m.

The Bulldogs (0-1) are coming off a 7-0 defeat at No. 26 Wake Forest last Saturday. The doubles pairing of Mauricio Correa and Jonas Brobeck did manage to defeat Wake Forest's Andrew Brasseaux and Joost Vogel 7-6. In singles, freshman Niccolai Nonnebroich won the first set against Jon Wolff before dropping the next two sets 6-2, 6-0.

East Carolina enters Saturday's match with a record of 1-0. The Pirates registered a 4-3 victory over George Washington last week in the nation's capital. With the overall match tied at 3-3, ECU's Aleksey Kochetov pulled out a 7-6, 7-5 victory over Chris Kushma to secure the win for the Pirates.

Appalachian State will open its spring season against the Bulldogs on Sunday. The Mountaineers posted a 13-10 overall record and went 5-4 in the Southern Conference last season.
