ASU Men's Soccer Edges Bulldogs, 1-0

The Mountaineers improved their record to 2-0-0 on the young season, while the Bulldogs fell to 0-1-0.
“We played some good soccer at times but Appalachian State scored on its best opportunity and we didn't,” explained UNC Asheville coach Steve Cornish. “We had a couple of chances but just couldn't score. Overall, we played quite well but we need to find a way to get a result, not come close.”
The winning goal came when Antonio Harley sent a perfect cross to the goal area. LaBruyere was able to head the ball into the right side of the goal for a 1-0 ASU lead.
The Bulldogs best chance in the first half came off the feet of senior Scott Szymanski. Szymanski had a shot from eight yards out that was just pushed aside by ASU goalkeeper Collin Taylor.
In the second half, Nathan Neal of UNC Asheville had two good shots but
ASU had a slight edge in shots, 7-5 and in corner kicks, 6-3.
