Women's Soccer Opens Big South Play at Radford on Friday

MURRAY, KY. ? UNC Asheville fired 15 shots on goal but could not connect as homestanding Murray State defeated the Bulldogs, 3-0 in the Hampton Inn Classic at Wilder Field Friday evening.

 

UNC Asheville falls to 0-3 on the season, while the Racers won their third straight match to improve to 3-2.

 

Murray State scored once in the first half to lead 1-0 and then put the game away with two goals in the second half.

 

The Bulldogs battled the entire game and outshot the Racers 10-9 in the second half but could not get on the scoreboard.

 

McKenna Stockhausen and Emily Elstrom led Asheville with three shots each.

 

UNC Asheville plays next on Sunday at Noon CST against UT-Martin in the second game of the Hampton Inn Classic.
