Steve Cornish Notches 100th Career Win; Dogs Drop Belmont 3-2

NASHVILLE, Tenn.-- Bryan George scored the game-winning goal in the 79th minute to give UNC Asheville its second straight victory 3-2 over Belmont and give Asheville head coach Steve Cornish his 100th career victory Friday night in the first game of Hyatt Place Select Invatational.
The Bulldogs (2-2-1) scored a pair of first half goals to take a 2-0 lead into halftime. Ryan Haupt got Asheville on the board in the 22nd minute with a free kick from 25 yards. It was his second goal of the year. Brandon Lassen scored his first career goal two minutes later in the 24th minute when he re-directed a cross by Nathan Neal into the back of the net.
Belmont (3-3-0) got back into the match in the 69th minute when an Asheville defender was called for a hand ball insinde the 18-yard box setting up a Bruin penelty kick. Will Moorad converted from the spot to make the score 2-1.
Four minutes later, in the 73rd minute, Brett Parker netted a shot off a pass from Moorad to tie the match.
George scored his second goal in as many matches with 11 minutes remaining. Caleb Alexander sent the pass to George to put the shot past Belmont goal keeper Janrai Gravely for the winner.
Belmont held a slight 16-15 advantage in shots while both teams took six corner kicks. Asheville goal keeper Lassi Hurskainen made three saves while Gravely was forced to make six saves.
