Women's Tennis Downs Presbyterian 6-1

ASHEVILLE, N.C.? UNC Asheville women's tennis team ended a three-match losing streak with a 6-1 victory over Presbyterian Wednesday afternoon at the UNC Asheville courts.

The match was a make-up of a match originally scheduled for last Saturday at Presbyterian. The Bulldogs (6-8) jumped on top sweeping the doubles competition.

Leslie Smith defeated Brittany Lanford at number one singles winning the first set in a tiebreaker and rolling to a straight sets victory. Louise Bottomley, Stephanie and Nicole Schon all took straight set wins at two through four and Tania Mateva was a winner at number six.

Presbyterian's only singles win came at number five were Virginia Waldron was a 6-2, 7-6 winner.

The Bulldogs hosts Chattanooga on Saturday at 2 p.m.
