Men's Tennis Falls to 64th Ranked Radford

RADFORD, Va. - Radford clinched the Big South regular season championship with a 5-2 victory over UNC Asheville on Sunday afternoon at the Dedmon Center Courts. The Highlanders won their third straight regular season crown and their second undefeated conference season in the last three years.
The 64th ranked Highlanders end the regular season 13-1 overall and 6-0 in the Big South. Radford will be the top seed at the Big South Championships, which will be held at Winthrop University from April 17-19. RU earned a first round bye and will play the winner of the match between No. 4 Coastal Carolina and No. 5 Liberty at 10 am on Friday, April 18 at 10 am.
The teams decided to play doubles first with the threat of inclement weather in the New River Valley region. The Highlanders clinched the match with four straight-set victories at No. 1 through 4.
UNC Asheville's Nicholas Thuell and Nathan White won at No. 5 and No. 6 respectively. Thuell won in straight sets, while White came back from a first set loss to win in a third set super tiebreaker.
Asheville will wrap up its regular season with Senior Day against Brevard on Monday. The Bulldogs will be teh No. 7 seed in the Big South Tournament and will face No. 2 seed High Point at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 17.
