UNC Asheville Women to Host Clinic on Nov. 8

Bulldogs Women Face Catamounts on Tuesday Night

ASHEVILLE, N.C.?UNC Asheville and Western Carolina's women's basketball teams will renew the Parkway Series on Tuesday night as the two teams meet at the Justice Center. Game time is set for 7 p.m. The game can be heard live in Asheville on ESPN Radio AM-1310 WISE and can be seen for a small fee on the Big South Edge.

 

UNC Asheville (1-5) is coming off a close 67-64 loss to South Carolina State while Western Carolina (2-3) is coming off a loss at Montana State on Saturday.

 

Big South Player of the Week, Jessica Monroe will lead the Bulldogs. She is averaging 16 points and 10 points per game over her last two outings. Monroe needs six points on Tuesday to reach the 500 point mark for her career. Chioma Okoli is the Dogs leading scorer overall averaging 14 points per game. Asheville saw the return of Ana Baker to the line-up on Saturday against S.C. State. Baker, a senior guard missed three games and is averaging 8.2 points and 5.6 assists per game.

 

Emily Clark leads the Cats averaging 11.6 points and 5.8 rebounds per game. Asheville native Lauren Powell is scoring 10.2 points per game. Kendra Carroll had a career-high 17 points against Montana State on Saturday. WCU is 1-0 this season against the Big South, defeating Liberty 73-53 on Nov. 22. The Cats are 2-0 at home but have not won a road game yet this season.

 

Western Carolina holds a 24-12 lead in the all-time series between these two mountain rivals. The Cats have won the last two meetings after Asheville had won three in a row in the series from 2003-2006. The last meeting at the Justice Center was a classic with WCU holding on for an 81-78 win. Last season Western won 89-74 in Cullowhee.
