ASHEVILLE, N.C. ? UNC Asheville senior defender Juliana Duncan has earned a spot on ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District third team for women's soccer. The announcement of the teams came today from COSIDA.
Duncan has enjoyed an outstanding athletic and academic career for the Bulldog program. She has been a four-year starter for UNC Asheville as both a midfielder and defender. Duncan helped lead the Bulldogs to the 2005 Big South Conference regular-season championship and the 2006 Big South Tournament title and trip to the NCAA Tournament. She made the 2006 Big South All-Tournament team. This season, the Raleigh native leads the Bulldogs in assists with five.
The Raleigh native has excelled in the classroom where she carries a 3.66 GPA, while majoring in chemistry. She has made the Dean's List five times and has made the Big South Presidential Honor Roll on three occasions. Duncan has also made the Athletic Director's 3.0 & Above Club five times. She studied in Australia last spring.
“We are very proud of Juliana and this great honor,” commented UNC Asheville coach Michele Cornish. “She has done an outstanding job on the field and in the classroom during her career.”
Duncan's All-District honors qualify her to be nominated for Academic All-America honors. That team will be announced in December.
