Women's Soccer Drops 1-0 Decision to VMI

ASHEVILLE, N.C. ? Megan Strand scored late in the first half and was enough as VMI edged UNC Asheville, 1-0 in Big South Conference women's soccer action at Greenwood Field Tuesday afternoon.

“This is a tough one to lose but give VMI credit for scoring on its opportunity,” commented UNC Asheville coach Michele Cornish. “We had some opportunities but just couldn't score. We congratulate VMI on the win. They have done a great job this year.”
VMI improved to a school-record
The Bulldogs controlled part of the first half and looked like they had a goal when McKenna Stockhausen scored in 20th minute but the play was quickly ruled off-sides by the linesman. Two minute later, a shot from Robyn Busha looked like it was going into the goal but Celine Ziobro cleared the ball of the line to keep the game scorless.

The Bulldogs controlled much of the second half as they had 12 shots to just five for VMI. Busha has seven shots in the second half but simply could not score. Beemer finished the match with seven saves.
