The game can be seen via live video stream on bigsouthsports.com. Asheville (10-10, 1-2 Big South) is playing the back end of a two-game road trip. Senior Ashton Barton became the 12th player in UNC Asheville history to go over the 1,000 point milestone in her career on Tuesday night at Charleston Southern. Barton leads the Bulldogs in scoring at 13.8 points per game. In three Big South games she is averaging 20.3 points per game. Her next point will move her into 11th place on the Dogs all-time list. Jessica Monroe is second on the team in scoring and rebounding at 10.4 points and 5.6 rebounds per game.
Stacy Shepard leads the Big South in rebounding at 9.7 boards per game. She has had at least 13 rebounds in each of the last two games. Her next rebound will move her into fifth place on Asheville's all-time rebounding list.
Radford was the preseason favorite to win the Big South this season. The Highlanders are 15-7 on the year and 2-1 in the conference this season. All five starters are averaging double figures as the Highlanders are the second highest scoring team in the conference. Kelli Darden, Taleia Moton, Johnette Walker, and Corrie Fertitta all average 11.8 points per game. Vandy Pullen adds 10 ppg. RU's bench only scores 10.7 points per game. The Highlanders are 8-1 at home this season after a 68-60 victory over High Point last Saturday.
"Radford starts three seniors who are very talented,” said Asheville head coach Betsy Blose. “They have as much talent as any team in the league and its their homecoming so they will be excited to play. We have to match that excitement and play with a sense of urgency. Our seniors need to play well and our underclassmen will need to step up in a hostile road environment."
Radford leads the all-time series 36-12. The series has been dominated by the home team over the last four seasons. Radford and has won the last three meetings at the Dedmon Center while Asheville was won the last six meetings at the Justice Center including last March's Big South Championship Game.
