Track and Field Sets Records at Niswonger Invitational

JOHNSON CITY, TENN. ? The UNC Asheville men's and women's track and field squads competed the weekend at the Niswonger Invitational at East Tennessee State.

 

The Bulldogs had some terrific performances this weekend, according to head coach Jesse Norman.

 

“We really improved a great deal this week from our performance at Chapel Hill last weekend,” commented Norman. “We set some records and just showed improvement as we head to the conference meet next meet.

 

Senior jumper Omar Ahmad enjoyed a great meet as he won his flight in the triple jump with a school record 13.62 meters. He also finished fourth in the long jump.

 

Senior distance runner Jon Harmon took 5th in the 3000 meters with a time of 8:38. Matt Holman had a solid performance in the 800 meters as he took eighth at a time of 2:03.

 

On the women's side, Emily Mase finished fifth in the 3000 meters at a time of 10:21. In the mile, senior Ingrid Allstaedt took fifth at 5:25. Elizabeth Duncan came in ninth at 5:37. Emily Becker finished 15th in the 3000 at 11:49.

 

Corrie Trotter did a nice job in the long jump as she finished 3rd with a jump of 4.91 meters.
