Women's Soccer Falls to Francis Marion, 2-0

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - Francis Marion scored a goal in each half en route to its third straight victory as the Patriots downed UNC Asheville, 2-0 at Greenwood Field Wednesday afternoon.

Ashley Fortune would put the Patriots in front for good when she hit a blast from 20 yards out at the 42:15 mark for a 1-0 FMU lead.
Francis Marion added a goal right after halftime to build the lead to 2-0 as Kirby Stenard picked up her team-leading seventh goal of the season. Nina Connell and Fortune were awarded assists on the play. The goal came at 50:14.
The Bulldogs out-shot FMU, 9-6 in the second half but simply couldn't score. Sutphin made all four of her saves in the second half.

UNC Asheville plays next on Saturday, Oct. 5 when the Bulldogs open Big South Conference play against Coastal Carolina. The match will take place at Greenwood Field on UNC Asheville's campus starting at
