ASHEVILLE, N.C. ? The UNC Asheville women's soccer team hopes to start a winning streak Wednesday afternoon at Greenwood Field when the Bulldogs host a dangerous Francis Marion club starting at 4 p.m.

UNC Asheville (2-6-0) broke a frustrating six-game losing streak on Sunday with a 6-1 home triumph over Chattanooga. Robyn Busha led the Bulldog attack with two goals, while Joy Haynes, Lauren Turnburke, Katy Beeler and Meagan Bradham all scored one goal each. Asheville tallied five goals in the second half after leading 1-0 at halftime.

“We did a much better job offensively in the second half on Sunday,” explained UNC Asheville coach Michele Cornish. “We took good shots and made them count. I also liked the way we had a variety of people scoring on Sunday. We can't depend on just one or two people to score.”

The Bulldogs face a tough Francis Marion (3-3-1) club Wednesday. FMU is playing its first year of a Division I schedule and is doing a nice job in the early part of the season. They own impressive wins over Coastal Carolina (4-0), Gardner-Webb (4-1) and Presbyterian (1-0). The Lady Patriots tied Winthrop 1-1 in the first match of the year.

“Francis Marion is a good club and is well-coached,” commented Cornish. “They have posted some impressive results and we're going to have to at our best to have a chance at getting a result on them on Wednesday.”

UNC Asheville is being led in scoring by junior forward Robyn Busha and senior forward Joy Haynes. Busha has four goals and 10 points, while Haynes has tallied four goals and nine points.
