ASHEVILLE, N.C. ? The UNC Asheville women's soccer team will be at home Wednesday afternoon as the Bulldogs take on Winthrop in a Big South Conference match at Greenwood Field starting at 4 p.m. Admission is free.

The match will be video-streamed and can be seen for a small fee at www.bigsouthsports.com or www.uncabulldogs.com.

UNC Asheville has been battling injuries all year long and has a 2-9 overall record and 0-2 league mark. Winthrop is 3-4-4 overall and unbeaten in league play at 2-0.

The Bulldogs fought hard at Radford Saturday afternoon before falling, 3-2. The Highlanders had 2-0 first half lead only to see sophomore McKenna Stockhausen score twice to knot the match at 2-2. Radford scored early in the second half but had to weather a strong Bulldog comeback to earn the victory.

“We played pretty well at Radford, and I was more than pleased with the effort,” stated UNC Asheville coach Michele Cornish. “We have had a lot of injuries to contend with this year but we're going to keep competing and try to win games.”

Asheville is being led in scoring by Robyn Busha and Joy Haynes. Busha has four goals and 11 points, while Haynes had four goals and 10 points.

The Bulldogs face a red-hot Winthrop squad on Wednesday. The Lady Eagles are 3-0-1 in the last four matches and just knocked off Liberty on the road, 3-2 Saturday afternoon.

Winthrop is playing quite well right now,” said Cornish. “We're going to have to be at our best to have a chance to win.”
