ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville women's soccer team will head to its first NCAA Tournament Friday morning at top-ranked UNC Chapel Hill. The Bulldogs play the Tar Heels Friday night at Fetzer Field starting at 5 p.m.

There will be a public send-off for the team Friday morning right in front of Justice Center starting at 9:45 a.m. The team is scheduled to leave at 10 a.m. The match will be broadcast on UNC Asheville's website, www.uncabulldogs.com as Everett Hutto and men's soccer coach Steve Cornish will describe the action from Chapel Hill.

"It's been a fun week," commented UNC Asheville coach Michele Cornish. "I've heard from people all over the country and that's nice to see. I'm really happy for the exposure our program has gotten from our championship."

The Big South champions are a pretty big underdog to UNC Chapel Hill. The Tar Heels are 22-1-0 and are favorites to win their 19th NCAA championship.

"North Carolina is very, very good," stated Cornish. "They are good in every facet of the game and just know how to win. We're talking about some of the best players in the country are on that team.

"However, we're going to play as hard as we can play and see what happens," added Cornish. "We're very happy to be in this position and we'll take our chances and be very aggressive."
