CHARLOTTE, N.C. - UNC Asheville senior midfielder Ashleigh Carter (Aurora, Colo.) has been selected as the Big South Conference Choice Hotels Women's Soccer Player of the Week for games played between Sept. 11-17, it was announced today by the League office.
Carter helped UNC Asheville to a 2-0 record last week, including a Big South Conference victory, with two goals, two assists and six points. She was involved in all four of the Bulldogs' goals during the week. Carter scored the game's first goal and assisted on the second in UNC Asheville's 2-1 win over Appalachian State on Thursday. She then added an assist and scored an insurance goal in the Bulldogs' 2-0 Big South opening win over Radford Saturday.
It's the first time the senior midfielder has ever been named Big South Player of the Week. The award marks the second time in three weeks a Bulldog has been honored as Big South Player of the Week as Robyn Busha was named two weeks ago.
The Bulldogs play Wednesday night at league rival Winthrop starting at 7 p.m.
