ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville women's soccer match against Liberty scheduled for Saturday afternoon at Greenwood Field has been postponed due to rain in the Asheville area. The match has been moved to Monday (Oct. 10) afternoon and will start at 4 p.m.
Asheville (6-3-0, 3-1-0 BSC) has won two straight league matches and both by 1-0 scores. The Bulldogs have moved into first place in the league with nine points (each league win counts for three points). The Lady Flames are right behind UNCA with a 2-0-0 league record. They have a 5-3-2 overall record.
The Bulldogs have had tough times with the Lady Flames program over the years. Asheville hasn't beaten Liberty at Greenwood Field since a 2-0 victory in 1997. Since the 1999 season, the Lady Flames have gone 6-1-1 vs. the Bulldogs. UNCA ended a seven-game winless streak vs. Liberty last season in Lynchburg as the Bulldogs posted a 1-0 victory.
"We expect a tough match with Liberty on Monday," commented Asheville coach Michele Cornish. "They're a well-coached team and they're playing very well right now. We're going to have to play at our best to have a chance to win."
