ASHEVILLE, N.C.- UNC Asheville and East Tennessee State will square off in non-conference baseball action on Tuesday afternoon at Greewood Field. The game originally scheduled for a 3 p.m. start has been moved up two hours and will begin at 1 p.m.

UNC Asheville is coming off a tough weekend at Furman. The Bulldogs dropped all three games but got solid performances from its starting pitching. Tim Johnson, Ben Buchanan, and Eric Brotzman combined to throw 23 innings in three games and allowed 10 earned runs while striking out 13 batters. Unfortunately, the offense only scored seven runs in the series.

The Bulldogs will send sophomore left-hander Chris Nigro to the mound on Tuesday. It will be his first start of the season. He has given up just three earned runs in his last five relief appearances.

Asheville has been lead offensively by a pair of freshmen. Elliott Arrington leads the club with a .333 average while Tony Campana is hitting .312 with a hit in 19 of his last 20 games. Senior Josh Coyle is also hitting .312 with a team-high five home runs and 28 RBI.

ETSU was also swept over the weekend at home against College of Charleston. The Bucs are hitting .330 as a team and are led by Shane Byrne who is hitting .395 with eight home runs and 33 RBI. Caleb Moore is hitting .367 with 12 home runs and 56 RBI. Seven ETSU hitters are batting over .300 for the season.

Asheville is 0-8 against Southern Conference teams this season dropping three games to Western Carolina and to Furman. The Bulldogs have also lost to UNC Greensboro and Appalachian State. ETSU is 2-0 against the Big South having beaten Radford twice.
