UNC Asheville Director of Athletics Janet R. Cone announced Ericka Schneider as the second head coach in the history of the UNC Asheville women's golf program on Friday, Aug. 3, 2018.

The 2020-21 season will be Schneider's third season as the head women's golf coach at UNC Asheville as the program enters into its fifth season of competition.

In her second year, Schneider coached the first graduating class in the golf program’s history, as Kellen Alsip, Linna Brooks, Adelyn Deery and Janie Thomas earned their undergraduate degrees in May of 2020. In the season shortened due to COVID-19, the Bulldogs competed in eight tournaments, notching three Top 10 finishes, including a season-best fifth-place result at the Northern Kentucky Invitational.

Under Schneider’s direction, the French Broad Collegiate Invitational hosted at The Cliffs at Walnut Coves had been expanded to a three-day, 54-hole event with a field of 15 teams set to participate before the tournament ultimately had to be canceled due to COVID-19.

In Schneider's first season at the helm of the Bulldogs, she led UNC Asheville to a tournament victory when the Bulldogs won the 2019 Pinehurst Women's Intercollegiate on March 15, 2019. That victory marked the third team tournament title the Bulldogs have won in the first three years of the program.

Schneider's first season leading the Bulldogs also saw UNC Asheville host the first ever French Broad Collegiate Invitational on March 25-26, 2019. As a team, the Bulldogs finished sixth in their inaugural home event and two Bulldogs (Taylor Hinson and Adelyn Deery) finished in the top 14 individually.

A former professional golfer, Schneider took over the reins of the UNC Asheville women's golf program prior to the 2018-19 season after spending the last year as an assistant coach and, most recently, as the interim head women's golf coach at UAB.

During her time at UAB, Schneider was involved in all facets of the program where she even helped to develop the UAB Blazer Birdie Club to help fundraise.

Schneider spent three years playing professionally on the Symetra Tour before joining the UAB women's golf program. She played in 23 tournaments while on tour. During her time on tour she also was involved in facilitating junior clinics at each event and she helped with charity meet and greets at each tour stop. She also attended pro-am parties and entertained sponsors while on tour.

In addition, from 2015-17, Schneider served as a playing professional and instructor at Waterlefe Golf and River Club in Bradenton, Fla. During her time with the club, Schneider was involved in tournament operations and planning and she provided private and group lessons as well as helped facilitate adult and junior clinics. Schneider also worked at The First Tee of Sarasota/Manatee as a camp leader and coach during the summers of 2011 and 2012.

Before competing on the Symetra Tour, Schneider first played collegiately at Daytona State where she was a two-time National Junior College Athletic Association All-American. She helped lead Daytona State to consecutive NJCAA national titles in 2010 and 2011. Schneider finished second individually at the NJCAA national tournament in 2011.

After her two years at Daytona State, Schneider spent the final two years of her college career at Ole Miss where as a senior she competed in all 12 tournaments and collected three top-20 finishes. She finished fourth as a senior at the LSU Golf Classic.

Schneider is a 2014 graduate of the University of Mississippi. The Bradenton, Fla. native obtained her undergraduate degree in Integrated Marketing Communications.
