Brian Hand was hired as the Assistant Athletics Director for External Relations in early December of 2016 by Janet R. Cone, Director of Athletics.
A North Greenville University (B.A.) and Middle Tennessee State University (M.S.) graduate, Hand will work closely with the IMG/Advancement Group and oversee the Department's Communications, Marketing and Fan Engagement and Ticket Offices. He will also serve on the Director of Athletics Senior Team.
"We are very excited to have Brian join the Bulldogs," Cone stated. "He has significant experience in communications/sports information, promotions and game operations from working at the Southern Conference, Presbyterian College and University of South Carolina Aiken. I look forward to introducing Brian and his family to our many internal and external fans and friends."
Most recently Hand served as the Executive Editor of Spurs & Feathers, which is the official publication of the University of South Carolina Gamecock Club. While at South Carolina, he worked closely with the External Communications and Development Offices.
"This is a tremendous opportunity for myself along with my family to join a top-notch athletics department at UNC Asheville," Hand said. "I cannot thank Janet Cone and the rest of the search committee enough for allowing me to join the Bulldog family. There are so many great things happening at UNC Asheville, and we are going to make sure to tell the Bulldog story the right way over the years to come. It's an exciting time to be a Bulldog."
A two-time Defensive Player of the Year and All-Region selection, Hand played collegiate soccer at North Greenville University where he was named to the 2001 National Christian Colleges Athletic Association Honorable-Mention All-American squad.
He is a member of the College Sports Information Directors of America and National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators.
