Brenae Williams is entering her second-year with the UNC Asheville women's basketball program as the Director of Operations.
UNC Asheville women’s basketball head coach Brenda Kirkpatrick Brown announced the addition of Brenae Williams to the staff on Monday, July 9, 2018.
"We are excited about the addition of Brenae to our coaching staff as the Director of Operations. As a graduate of fellow Big South member Winthrop University, she understands the landscape of our conference and has been following our program for several years,” said Mock. “I was impressed with Bre's persistence and passion in pursuing the opportunity to join our staff. She will have great rapport with our student-athletes and can effectively assist in many facets of the program. She is extremely organized, driven and detail-oriented, which makes her a great fit for the operations position."
"It was such a blessing to hear, ‘Are you ready to come to Asheville?’ I give all praise to God,” said Williams. “I am truly grateful to Coach Mock, as she has given me this opportunity to join her staff. These are the most hard-working, dedicated, loyal individuals I know and just genuinely good people. It is such an honor be a part of a championship program, and I cannot wait to jump in and help continue to build upon the winning culture here.
Prior to Asheville, Williams worked as an assistant coach at Oklahoma Wesleyan in Bartlesville, Okla. Last season, she helped lead the Eagles to a stellar 21-11 overall record. OKWU finished second in the conference poll and competed in the KCAC Tournament semifinals.
During the 2016-17 season, she helped recruit and coach four Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) All-Conference players, including eight Academic All-Americans. The team was named the KCAC Champions of Character team recipient during the same season.
As an assistant coach at OKWU, Williams assisted with on-the-floor coaching at practice and skill development sessions. She helped design preseason and in-season strength and condition programs for the team. She also oversaw and managed all aspects of the junior varsity program.
During the 2015-16 season, she was an intern for the women’s basketball team at Winthrop. There she learned several different softwares, including Synergy, Fast Draw and Fast Scout. Williams also composed scouting reports for game preparation.
Williams helped lead Winthrop to its first-ever conference championship in 2014. During her four years as Team Manager, she helped the Winthrop Director of Operations by setting up for practice, managing equipment for road games, assisting with drills and helping with other duties as assigned.
Williams graduated from Oklahoma Wesleyan in 2018 with a Masters of Business Administration with a focus in Organizational Leadership.
She graduated from Winthrop in 2016 with a degree in exercise science and a minor in coaching.
