UNC Asheville Head Women’s Basketball Coach Honey Brown announced the addition of Aaron Rymer to her coaching staff as the program’s new Director of Basketball Operations on September 10, 2021.
“We are excited to have Aaron join our Bulldog family,” said Brown. “He has been around basketball his entire life and has a passion for the game. His eagerness to contribute in any way and learn stood out in the hiring process. Aaron has valuable experience from other programs that I know will make us better. I look forward to working with him!”
Rymer joins the Bulldog staff after spending the past two seasons as a graduate assistant coach at Purdue. While at Purdue, Rymer’s duties included scouting opponents, film breakdown, helping with individual workouts, and administrative duties.
Prior to his work with the Boilermakers, Rymer spent some time in the region as he was a student manager for the men’s basketball team at East Tennessee State. As a player, Rymer played two seasons at Walters State Community College where he shot 43 percent from the field that included 38 percent from 3-point range.
Rymer has also refereed more than 100 games and spent time coaching sixth-grade basketball as well.
