Overview: Talented sprinter from Charlotte who won 800 meters at Coastal Carolina and helped DMR relay team win Indoor Big South title in 2013.
2016 Outdoor: In her final season as a Bulldog, Anna has competed in three events for Asheville, the 200m, 400m and 800m. In the 200m, she clocked a personal best time of 25.98 at the Georgia Tech Invitational in late April. At the very same meet, Gelbach posted a season-best time of 59.35 in the 400m dash, a second off of her personal best. Outdoor:
2015-16 Indoor: In her fourth Indoor season as a Bulldog, she competed in five events for Asheville: the 60m, 200m, 300m, 400m and the 4x400m relay. She turned in a career-best time of 8.29 in the 60m dash at the JDL College Kick-Off in December of 2015. At the 2015-16 Indoor Big South Championships, Gelbach ran the second leg of the 4x400m relay that lands second All-Time in the Asheville record books with a time of 3:59.17. This puts her in the top three spots on Asheville’s All-Time list in the 4x400m relay.
2015 Outdoor: Gelbach earned new personal bests in both the 200m and the 400m sprints. In the 200m, she recorded a best time of 26.39 at the Georgia Tech Invitational. Saving the best for last, she clocked her best 400m time of 58.91 ath the Big South Championships.
2014-15 Indoor: Returning Junior sprinter for the Bulldogs. She competed in the 60 meters, 200 meters, 400 meters and 800 meters, and also ran season best of 8.41 in the 60 meters at JDL College Kick-off Classic. At the ETSU Invitational, she ran 2:33.33 in the 800 meters, and a season best of 1:00.67 in the Buccaneer Invitational in the 400 meters. She was unable to compete in the Big South Conference due to injury.
2014 Outdoor: Highlight of the season came when she won the 800 meters at Coastal Carolina Invitational (3-20) with time of 2:24.94…improved time in the 800 to 2:20.70 at Big South Championships (4-17) …top time in the 400 meters was mark of 59.59 at 49er Classic (3-20). ..ran on the 4x400 relay team and helped quartet pick up sixth place finish at Big South meet with time of 3:54.74.
2013-14 Indoor: Raced in four different individual events from 200 to the 800 meters and also took part in two relays...top time in the 200 meters was 27.33 at Hilton Garden Invitational (1-31)…posted time of 59.49 in the 400 meters came at USC Upstate Invitational (2-14)…had a time of 1:21.99 in the 500 meters at JDL Kick-Off Classic (1-17)…registered mark of 2:30.97 in the 800 meters at Niswonger Invitational (1-17)…part of 4,000 meter DMR team that had time of 12:27.18 and fifth-place finish at Big South Championships (2-28).
2013 Outdoor: Had season-best time of 26.32 in the 200 meters at Western Carolina (3-22)…also had top time in the 400 meters at WCU with mark of 59.32 (3-22).
2012-13 Indoor: Part of Big South Championship and record-setting 4,000 meter DMR quartet that finished in first place with time of 12:05.85…posted a season-best time of 8.22 in the 60 meters at Kentucky (1-25)…also had a season-best time at Kentucky in the 200 meters with mark of 26.73…finished with time of 1:00.57 at Clemson (2-8).
Before UNC Asheville: Four-year letterwinner from Myers Park HS…placed ninth at state meet in the 400 meters with a time of 58.26 in the 400m...qualified for the state meet in the 400 meters in 2011 and 2012...conference champion in the 400 meters in 2012...regional runner-up in the 400 in 2012...school record holder in the Indoor 400...anchored the school record breaking 4x400 in both indoor and outdoor.
