Prior to UNC Asheville:
Jordan Valentine became the fourth head coach in program history after returning to Ohio Valley from a four-year stay at Defiance College and a two-year stint at Penn State-New Kensington. During his time at OVU, Valentine led the Fighting Scots to the NCAA D2 "Sweet Sixteen" in the National Tournament and a final overall national ranking of #18. In Spring 2021, Valentine guided his team to a perfect 11-0-0 season, winning both the regular season and conference tournament championships, and achieving the highest final national ranking in school history at #3.Â
At Defiance College, Valentine rebuilt the program into a conference contender and led the program to its highest conference finish since 2013. He left his mark with the Yellow Jackets as the second-winningest coach in program history.Â
During his time at PSU-New Kensington, Valentine recorded a 15-14 overall record, with his best season coming in 2014, finishing 9-6 on the year and 7-3 in the Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference. The 2014 season was the highest finish for New Kensington in the PSUAC, with the Lions finishing the season ranked nationally in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association. While coaching at New Kensington, Valentine was also on staff with the PA-West Olympic Development Program, as well as a club coach for Century United located in Pittsburgh, Pa.Â
Valentine is a native of Preston, England who graduated from Ohio Valley University in 2012 with a bachelor's degree in Sport Management. While attending Ohio Valley, Valentine made sixty-seven appearances over four years for the men's soccer program. Valentine earned All-West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honors as a defender and midfielder.
Before attending OVU, Valentine graduated from Preston College in his hometown of Preston, England. In 2008, Valentine was selected to the Great Britain National University Soccer Team.
Coach Valentine obtained a Masters of Education with a Sports Coaching Concentration in 2018 and also has English Football Association Level 1 and 2 coaching licenses along with USSF licenses and an NSCAA Premier Diploma.
