Sean Dixon enters his fifth season with the UNC Asheville basketball program and first as Associate Head Coach in 2017-2018. He specializes in guard development and is the program’s recruiting coordinator. 

Dixon has helped the program to back-to-back 20-win seasons. During the 2016-17 campaign the Bulldogs captured their sixth Big South Conference regular season title and earned a postseason appearance to the CollegeInsider.com tournament. Macio Teague and Ahmad Thomas were also Big South first-team All-Conference selections.

The Bulldogs were Big South Tournament champions in 2015-16 and were a 15-seed in the South Region of the NCAA tournament. They went on to lose in the first round to the eventual national champions in the Villanova Wildcats. 

In all, Dixon has helped coach seven All-Conference performers and been a part of 77 wins while at UNC Asheville. 

Prior to UNC Asheville, Dixon enjoyed a successful playing and coaching career at Big South foe, Presbyterian College. He was a part of the program’s biggest victory on Nov. 19, 2011 when they beat the 20th-ranked Cincinnati Bearcats.

During his playing days, Dixon was a four-year letterwinner. A two-time team captain, he helped the program to back-to-back 20-win seasons. He was a two-time first-team All-Conference selection. Dixon also earned second-team All-Conference accolades during the 2004-05 campaign. He scored 1,106 career points at PC.

Dixon graduated from Presbyterian College with a bachelor’s degree in Business Management in 2007. Married to the former Tara Westendorf, the couple welcomed a daughter, Kinsley Grace, on Feb. 27, 2017.Â
