UNC Asheville Head Men's Basketball Coach Mike Morrell announced Wednesday (July 24) that Jonathan Pickett has been named the program's new Director of Basketball Operations.
A native of Mechanicville, N.Y., Pickett comes to Asheville after spending three seasons with the Siena Men's Basketball program. He spent his first two seasons at Siena as the program's special assistant to the head coach and was promoted to director of basketball operations in June 2023.
Pickett joined the Saints after spending the 2020-21 season as the Director of Analytics for the University at Albany Men's Basketball team. In his role, he created analytic-driven reports to aid the coaching staff with scouting reports and internal player development. Pickett also developed a shot-tracking system, assisted in player development, and supervised and evaluated student managers.
As an undergraduate at Albany, Pickett served as the head student manager for the Great Danes for each of his final two seasons. He was the head manager and assistant to the video coordinator for the UAlbany Women's Basketball program during his two years as an underclassman. Pickett graduated from UAlbany in 2020 with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Business Administration – Financial Management.
