McIver joins the Bulldogs after spending the last 14 seasons at Caldwell Community College & Technical Institute, including the last eight as head coach. During his tenure, he compiled a 163-70 overall record, leading the Cobras to multiple NJCAA Region 10 championships, an Atlantic District Championship, a national tournament appearance and numerous national rankings. McIver coached 2026 UNC Asheville men’s basketball graduate Toyaz Solomon for two seasons before Solomon came to Asheville. Under McIver’s tutelage, Solomon was named Region 10 Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year in 2023 and was named the Region 10 Newcomer of the Year in 2022.
McIver was named Region 10 Coach of the Year in 2022, 2023 and 2024 while consistently developing all-conference, all-region and All-America talent. His teams routinely ranked among the nation's leaders in scoring, rebounding and three-point shooting despite competing without athletic scholarships, on-campus housing or meal plans.
Prior to becoming Caldwell's head coach, McIver served as an assistant coach at Caldwell from 2012-18 after assistant coaching stops at Lenoir-Rhyne and Brevard.
A Granite Falls, North Carolina native, McIver graduated from Mars Hill College with a bachelor's degree in Recreation and Sports Management after a four-year playing career with the Lions, where he served as a team captain during his junior and senior seasons.
