2023-24 Season (Fifth Year) - Was the only Bulldog to play and start in all 34 games during the 2023-24 season…Once again served as the Bulldogs’ primary point guard, leading the team and league in assists with 171…Scored 228 points, grabbed 93 rebounds and 25 steals…Scored a career-high 15 points against High Point on Feb. 7, recorded a season-high 38 minutes in Asheville’s overtime win against Gardner-Webb on March 9 to help the Bulldogs advance to the Big South Conference Championship for a second year in a row…recorded a season-high field goals made and attempted against High Point (7/11)...Recorded a career-high 10 rebounds against Kennesaw State…Had a season-high 10 assists against Carolina University…Recorded double-digit scoring games 10 times.
2022-23 Season (Senior) - Served as Asheville’s primary point guard in 2022-23...Burgess appeared in all 35 games that included 26 starts...Burgess has scored 179 points, grabbed 71 rebounds, dished out 148 assists to go with 25 steals...His 148 assists led the Big South...Totaled a career-high 11 assists in a win over South Carolina State in mid-December...Scored in double figures eight times in 2022-23...Scored a season-high 14 points in back-to-back wins over Charleston Southern and USC Upstate in late January.
Prior to UNC Asheville - A native of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Burgess has spent the last three seasons at Hofstra, where he started 40 of 77 games played in three seasons...After getting adjusted his freshman season, Burgess established himself as a key player as a sophomore, averaging 8.3 points, 5.6 assists and 3.3 rebounds while starting all 23 games...Burgess' 5.6 assists not only led the Pride, but ranked 22nd in the nation and first in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA)...Scoring in double figures nine times, Burgess proved to be a defensive threat as well, ranking 10th in the CAA in steals and boasted an assist to turnover ratio of 2.0 (4th)...This past season, Burgess started 17 of 31 games for Hofstra including a seven-assist outing against UNC Wilmington which helped lift Hofstra to a two-point victory...Prior to his time at Hofstra, Burgess played his high school ball at Moravian Prep in nearby Hickory, North Carolina, and was ranked in the top 30 players in the state in 2019.
