Tyler Ware, Lucca Barros Claim Big South Conference Weekly Awards Again

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - UNC Asheville Men's Soccer has claimed Big South Conference weekly awards again this week, with senior forward Tyler Ware being named the Offensive Player of the Week and redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Lucca Barros being named the Defensive Player of the Week. The announcement came from the league today (Monday, Sept. 21). This marks the first time a Bulldog has won back-to-back weekly awards since Charlie Farrar's string of four consecutive honors to open the 2024 season.

Asheville went 2-0-0 on the week with a 2-1 win over ETSU on Wednesday (Sept. 16) and a 3-0 win over Longwood on Saturday (Sept. 19). The Bulldogs (6-1-1) continue their best start since 1996, and open conference play with a clean sheet for the first time since 2019.

Ware registered an assist in the win over ETSU, along with a brace including the game-winner and an assist in the win over Longwood for six points on the week.

This is Ware's second career Big South Conference weekly honor. The Hooper, Utah native is a business major.

Barros (6-1-1) made a career-high nine saves in the match against ETSU, and three saves in the shutout against Longwood to collect two more wins.

This is Barros's fourth career Big South Conference weekly honor. The Mint Hill, N.C. native is a double major in business and mass communications.

The Bulldogs (6-1-1, 1-0-0 Big South) return to action Wednesday night (Sept. 23) at Georgia State in non-conference action. Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m. from Atlanta, Ga. with video and live stats available at www.uncabulldogs.com.
