Tyler Ware, Lucca Barros Earn Big South Conference Weekly Awards

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - UNC Asheville Men's Soccer senior forward Tyler Ware and redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Lucca Barros have earned weekly awards from the Big South Conference, announced by the league today (Monday, Sept. 14). Ware was named the league's Offensive Player of the Week, while Barros was named the Defensive Player of the Week.

This marks the first time the Bulldogs have garnered a pair of weekly awards in the same week since Oct. 28, 2024 when Brendan Herb was named Offensive Player of the Week and Benian Yao earned Defensive Player of the Week honors.Â
Ware helped Asheville to a 2-0-0 week with a 1-0 win over Wofford on Tuesday (Sept. 8) and a 4-0 win at VMI on Saturday (Sept. 12). He tallied an assist in both games along with a goal in the win over VMI for four points on the week.

This is Ware's first career Big South Conference weekly honor. The Hooper, Utah native is a business major.

Barros posted a pair of clean sheets as the Bulldogs went 2-0-0 with a 1-0 win over Wofford on Tuesday (Sept. 8) and a 4-0 win at VMI on Saturday (Sept. 12). He made seven saves against Wofford and two saves against VMI for nine total saves on the week.

This is Barros's third career Big South Conference weekly honor. The Mint Hill, N.C. native is a double major in business and mass communications.

The Bulldogs (4-1-1) return to action next Wednesday (Sept. 16) hosting East Tennessee State in non-conference action. Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m. from Greenwood Field, with video and live stats available at www.uncabulldogs.com.
