08.24.2026 | Men's Soccer

GREENVILLE, S.C. - UNC Asheville Men's Soccer battled to a 1-1 draw at No. 3/2 Furman on Monday night (Aug. 24).

The Bulldogs were able to apply pressure early, with two corner kicks in the first 10 minutes. On the second attempt, Lennart Granzow was taken down hard from behind and after a VAR review the Bulldogs were awarded a penalty kick. Tyler Ware stepped up to the spot and buried his first goal as a Bulldog and first penalty kick goal of his college career for a 1-0 Asheville lead. Furman would counter with offensive pressure in the later stages of the first half, but Lucca Barros made two big saves in the last several minutes to preserve Asheville's lead after 45 minutes.

The teams traded runs and possessions throughout the second half, with Furman eventually turning up the heat offensively. After a foul outside the box against the Bulldogs, Furman would capitalize for the equalizer in the 79th minute. Diego Hernandez would score on a free kick to ultimately bring the match to its final score. Asheville withstood a late barrage of pressure, with Barros making seven saves in the second half and the Bulldogs fending off six Furman corner kicks.

Asheville registered three shots in the match, with all of them on target along with two corner kicks. The Bulldogs logged shots from Dwayne Campino Do Vale, Ware and Joseph Ling. Barros (1-0-1) matched his career-high with eight saves in the match.

The Bulldogs (1-0-1) return to action next Tuesday (Sept. 1) to host Warren Wilson in non-conference action. Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m. from Greenwood Field, with live stats available at www.uncabulldogs.com.
