CHARLOTTE, N.C. – UNC Asheville men's basketball freshman Myles Mayfield has been named Big South Freshman of the Week following his performance this past week. The announcement was made by the league office on Monday (Feb. 23).
Across Asheville's two games last week, Mayfield averaged 8.0 points and 7.0 rebounds in 24.7 minutes per contest while shooting an efficient 50 percent (5-of-10) from the field. His 11 points against High Point marks the most against a Division I opponent this year.

In addition to his rebounding efforts, Mayfield contributed defensively with a block and a steal while adding an assist and committing just one turnover across the two-game stretch.
On the season, Mayfield is averaging 4.9 points and 4.3 rebounds.
Mayfield and the Bulldogs are back in action on Thursday, Feb. 26 as they take on Gardner-Webb at 7 p.m. in Boiling Springs.
