Athletic Department Announces January Home Event Schedule

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville Athletics has announced its full slate of January home events, featuring a packed calendar of Big South Conference action, senior days, special promotions, and community-focused events across multiple sports.

The month opens with women's basketball hosting Winthrop on Saturday, January 3, at 2 p.m. inside Kimmel Arena. Men's basketball returns home on Wednesday, January 7, welcoming Longwood for a 6:30 p.m. tipoff. On Jan. 7, the athletic department is partnering with the YMCA, and all Y members and staff receive free entry to the contest.

On Saturday, January 10, women's basketball hosts Longwood at 2 p.m. in Kimmel Arena, and the track and field team opens its indoor season by hosting the UNC Asheville Collegiate Opener at Tryon International.

UNC Asheville celebrates a major milestone on Sunday, January 11, with the Women's Golf Practice Facility Ribbon Cutting at 3 p.m. in the Sherrill Center.

Basketball conference play continues on Wednesday, January 14, as the women's team faces Charleston Southern at 2 p.m. in Kimmel Arena for a Blue Out game. This is also Faculty & Staff Appreciation Night, and campus members can enjoy dinner inside Kimmel Arena, as Brown Hall will serve food on the concourse for the fourth annual welcome-back dinner.

A busy Friday, January 16, includes Diving vs. Liberty at 3 p.m. at the JCC for Senior Day, followed by Baseball Night in Asheville with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. at Highland Brewing.

On Saturday, January 17, the Bulldogs host a full day of competition beginning with Swimming vs. Liberty at 11 a.m. in the Justice Center for Senior Day. Men's basketball then hosts Winthrop at 2 p.m. in Kimmel Arena, featuring a Jersey Giveaway, and the Children's Market will be selling items on the concourse.

Women's basketball continues Big South action on Wednesday, January 21, hosting USC Upstate at 6:30 p.m. in Kimmel Arena as part of the Ingles I-26 Rivalry.

Later in the month, men's basketball welcomes Gardner-Webb on Thursday, January 29, for a Blue Out in Kimmel Arena, highlighted by a Bucket Hat Giveaway and Thirsty Thursday promotions.

January concludes on Saturday, January 31, as women's basketball hosts Gardner-Webb at 2 p.m. in Kimmel Arena for the Bulldogs' annual Play4Kay game. The Children's Market will be back on the concourse.
