Women's Swimming and Diving Posts Strong Showing to Open Senior Weekend

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - UNC Asheville Women's Swimming and Diving posted a strong showing to open Senior Weekend against Liberty on Friday (Jan. 16) on the first day of a two-day non-conference meet.

Leigha Travis (219.08) and Haley Fein (217.13) each scored points in the one-meter diving prelims, while Eleanor Pichetto (212.70) and Fein (211.58) earned points in the 1M finals.

Rose Sciaudone posted the fastest dual meet time of her college career in the 1650 freestyle in 18:03.99, while also registering a lifetime-best 2:11.85 in the 200 butterfly. Senior Anna Marcotti is pacing the Bulldog swimmers with two individual wins so far, posting wins in the 50 freestyle (24.00) and the 200 free (1:52.90).

"Overall, it was a strong showing for the team today," said head coach Elizabeth Lykins. "Haley Fein concluded her home collegiate diving career with two impressive 1M rounds. The seniors are excited to be racing in front of the home crowd and really looking forward to the recognition tomorrow."

The Bulldogs return to the Justice Center Pool tomorrow (Saturday, Jan. 17) for the completion of the swimming portion of the meet as well as their Senior Day celebration. Senior Day will start at 11:10 a.m., with swimming starting at 11:30 a.m.
