CHARLOTTE, N.C. - UNC Asheville Women's Basketball sophomore guard Nia Green has been named the Big South Conference Co-Player of the Week, announced by the league today (Monday, Jan. 12).

Asheville went 1-1 in conference play this week, with a 62-51 win at Gardner-Webb on Wednesday (Jan. 7) before a close 67-58 loss to Longwood on Saturday (Jan. 10).

Green is the first Bulldog since Kai Carter in 2020-21 to record back-to-back double-doubles. Against Gardner-Webb she scored a team-high 18 points on a career-best 9-15 shooting to go along with 10 rebounds, three assists and four steals. Against Longwood, she matched her career-high with 22 points and set a new career-high 12 rebounds to go along with two assists and one steal.

This is Green's first career Player of the Week honor. The Baltimore, Md. native is a computer science major.

The Bulldogs return to the hardwood in Kimmel Arena on Wednesday (Jan. 14) for the Blue Out game against Charleston Southern. Tip-off is set for 6:30 p.m. with video, live stats, radio and tickets available at www.uncabulldogs.com.
