CHARLOTTE, N.C. - UNC Asheville sophomore goalkeeper Lucca Barros has been named the Big South Conference Co-Defensive Player of the Week, announced by the league today (Monday, Sept. 15).

The Bulldogs beat Wofford 2-0 on Tuesday (Sept. 9) in their only match last week, picking up their first win in Spartanburg since 2018 and getting off to the program's best start since 1995.

Barros picked up his first career clean sheet in the match with a career-high four saves between the pipes.

This is Barros's first career Player of the Week honor. He is a native of Mint Hill, N.C.

The Bulldogs (4-1-0) return to action tomorrow (Tuesday, Sept. 16) at East Tennessee State in non-conference action. Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m. from Johnson City, Tenn. with live stats available at www.uncabulldogs.com.
