Asheville Athletics and Bank of America Host Annual Scholarship Luncheon

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville Director of Athletics Janet R. Cone hosted the annual Bulldog Athletics Scholarship Luncheon sponsored by Bank of America on Tuesday, Sept. 9.Â
The Bulldog Athletics Scholarship Luncheon brought together scholarship donors and their student-athlete recipients. During the program, student-athletes had the opportunity to connect directly with their benefactors and share their appreciation. Speakers included Bulldog Athletic Association (BAA) Board Chair David Meyer, along with several student-athletes who shared personal stories of how scholarship funding has impacted their athletic and academic journeys.
Among the student-athletes in attendance was Shae Hassig, a senior on the women's soccer team. "I am so grateful to have been able to meet with our supporters who have made it possible for me to play soccer and go to school at UNC Asheville. They are an instrumental part of what makes the Asheville community so special, as well as what will make it such a hard place to leave. I am so thankful for their support these past four years."Â
"Scholarship donors play an essential role in the success of our department," said Cone. "Their generosity allows our coaches to recruit Champions and Leaders who Dream Bigger and Achieve More. Together with our staff, these donors are helping prepare our Bulldogs for success in competition, the classroom, and their future careers. We are truly grateful for their unwavering support."
