Men’s Basketball Adds New Mexico Transfer Daniel Thomas

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville men's basketball head coach Mike Morrell announced on Friday (May 9) the addition of transfer forward Daniel Thomas to the 2025-26 roster.

"We are excited to welcome Daniel to Asheville," said Morrell. "He comes from an NCAA Tournament team at New Mexico and will bring a ton of winning attributes to our program." 

The 6-8 forward from Dallas, Texas, redshirted this past season at New Mexico and comes to Asheville with four years of eligibility. 

Thomas was a three-star recruit out of high school and was a 2024 McDonald's All-America nominee. He earned all-state honors at Dallas Carter High School and helped the team to a 31-6 record and a top 25 ranking in Texas. He was the District 13-4A Defensive Player of the Year and played for Lone Star Elite AAU.
