Tarek Erlewein and Cian Ingles Earn College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® Honors

GREENWOOD, Ind. - UNC Asheville Men's Tennis graduate Tarek Erlewein and sophomore Cian Ingles have earned College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® honors, announced by the organization today (Tuesday, May 13). This marks the third straight year the Bulldogs have had at least one recipient of this award.

To qualify for the honor, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore both athletically and academically, maintain a cumulative 3.5 grade point average and also play in 70 percent of team contests that include team scores.

Erlewein went 13-4 in singles play this season including ending the season on a five-match winning streak. He went a perfect 3-0 in conference while going 2-0 at No. 1, 9-4 at No. 2 and 2-0 at No. 3. Erlewein went 7-6 in doubles play this season including 2-1 in conference play with Olle Sonesson Lidholt, as the pair earned All-Conference Second Team honors in doubles abd Erlewein earned First Team All-Conference in singles He was also named to the Big South Conference All-Academic Team the and Big South Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year, just the fourth Bulldog in program history to earn the honor. Academically, he graduated from UNC Asheville last week with a bachelor's degree in business and economics with a 3.99 grade point average.

This is Erlewein's first career Academic All-District honor. He is a native of Stuhr, Germany.

Ingles earned nine wins in singles play including two in conference. He went 6-4 at No. 5 while also winning two matches at No. 6 and one at No. 3. Ingles went 6-6 in doubles including 1-1 in conference. He earned two doubles wins at No. 1, three at No. 2 and one at No. 3, while also going 3-3 with Freddy Murray on the way to earning All-Conference Second Team honors in doubles. He also picked up doubles wins with Olle Sonesson Lidholt, Griffin Lovern and Sai Gandepalli. Academically, he holds a 3.80 grade point average.

This is Ingles's first career Academic All-District honor. He is a native of Perth, Australia.
