ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville men's basketball head coach Mike Morrell announced on Monday (April 14) the addition of transfer guard Mitchell Taylor to the 2025-26 roster.
"We are excited to welcome Mitch to our program," said Morrell. "He had a terrific season at SC State and will fit our style of play extremely well."
The 6-3 sophomore spent two seasons at South Carolina State, where he averaged 8.4 points and 2.5 rebounds to go along with 141 assists and 73 steals. He shot 43.6% (187-of-429) from the field in two seasons. The incoming junior from Atlanta, Ga., scored a career-high 23 points, going 10-for-10 from the free-throw line, against Delaware St. this past season. Taylor played in 63 games and made 37 starts for the Bulldogs.
During his freshman season at SC State, Taylor was named Rookie of the Week twice for the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference and was named to the MEAC All-Rookie Team at the end of the regular season.
