Dakota McCaughan Named to Big South Conference All-Academic Team

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - UNC Asheville fifth-year guard Dakota McCaughan has been named to the Big South Conference All-Academic Team, announced by the league today (Tuesday, Mar. 4).

On the floor this season, McCaughan has played in all 29 games making 26 starts averaging 29.2 minutes per game. McCaughan is fifth in the league in assists per game at 3.1, and also fifth in the league in steals per game at 2.2. She is third on the team in scoring at 8.8 points per game, while also averaging 2.8 rebounds per game. McCaughan was named the Big South Conference Player of the Week on Dec. 2, 2024 after a career-high 29 points on a career-high eight three pointers, marking the fifth-highest single-game point total in the Big South this season. Academically, McCaughan holds a 3.55 grade point average in sociology.

This is McCaughan's first career All-Academic Team honor. She is a native of Secane, Pa.
