Dakota McCaughan and Skylar Bailey Earn College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® Honors

GREENWOOD, Ind. - UNC Asheville Women's Basketball student-athletes Dakota McCaughan and Skylar Bailey have earned Academic All-District® honors by College Sports Communicators, announced by the organization today (Tuesday, Mar. 25).
 
This marks the second consecutive year that Asheville Women's Basketball has had multiple individuals earn Academic All-District honors.

To qualify for the honor, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore both athletically and academically, maintain a cumulative 3.5 grade point average and also either appear in 90 percent of their team's contests or start in at least 66 percent of contests.

McCaughan appeared in all 31 games this season, making 28 starts and averaging 29.5 minutes per game. She was third on the team averaging 9.0 points per game and was also tied for the conference lead in three-pointers per game at 2.2. McCaughan earned her first career Big South Conference Player of the Week honor on Dec. 2, 2024 after a career-high 29 points on a career-high eight three-pointers at Tennessee State, marking the seventh-highest single-game scoring performance in the Big South Conference this season. McCaughan also averaged 2.9 rebounds per game, 3.0 assists per game (fifth in the conference) and 2.2 steals per game. McCaughan was also named to the 2024-25 Big South Conference All-Academic Team. Academically, McCaughan holds a 3.55 grade point average in sociology.  

This is McCaughan's first career Academic All-District honor. She is a native of Secane, Pa.

Bailey played in 30 games this season making 23 starts and averaging 21.4 minutes per game. Bailey also averaged 4.6 points per game, 1.5 rebounds per game and 1.1 assists per game along with 22 steals and eight blocks. Academically, Bailey holds a 3.74 grade point average in health sciences.

This is Bailey's first career Academic All-District honor. She is a native of Vienna, Ga.
