Rylen Stockton Named Big South Conference Freshman of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - UNC Asheville Baseball catcher Rylen Stockton has been named the Big South Conference Freshman of the Week, announced by the league today (Monday, Mar. 17). Stockton is the first Bulldog to earn Freshman of the Week honors since Robbie Burnett back on May 9, 2022.

Asheville went 3-1 on the week with a 15-10 win at Queens (N.C.) on Tuesday, before winning two out of three for the series win at Gardner-Webb over the weekend. Stockton went 8-17 on the week (.471) including a career-best 4-5 in the first game of the series against Gardner-Webb with two doubles, three doubles on the week. He scored five runs on the week and also drove in three runs.Â

This is Stockton's first career Freshman of the Week honor. The Sarasota, Fla. native is a business major.

Asheville returns to action on Tuesday (Mar. 18) hosting Wofford in non-conference action. First pitch is set for 5:00 p.m. from Greenwood Field, with video and live stats available at www.uncabulldogs.com. Â
