KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - UNC Asheville Women's Swimming and Diving saw two more records fall on the second day of the Atlantic Sun Conference Championships on Thursday (Feb. 20). Asheville remains in fourth place with 226 team points.
 
The finals began with a fifth-place finish by the 200 free relay team of Caroline Crouse, Anna Marcotti, Andie Quisumbing and Beatrice Cocconcelli in 1:33.64, before Asheville landed three placers in the B finals of the 100 fly. Chloe McDonald finished ninth in 55.56, while Quisumbing finished 11th in 55.93 and Taylor Smith finished 12th in 56.11. Asheville was paced in the 400 IM A finals by a season-best 4:21.03 fifth-place finish from Riley Edmundson and a lifetime-best 4:23.14 sixth-place finish from Julie Lahiff. In the B finals, Anna Kate Halligan finished 12th in a season-best 4:26.02 while Alessia Cunegatti took 13th in a season-best 4:26.05 and Rose Sciaudone finished 16th in a lifetime-best 4:32.49. Marcotti posted a seventh-place finish in the A final of the 200 free in 1:51.31, while Caitlin Hefner finished 14th in the B final in 1:51.69 and Crouse took 16th in 1:54.02. Asheville went on to take fifth in the 400 medley relay in 3:45.56, paced by a season-best 56.06 split from Grace Adams along with Alyssa Jackson (1:02.88), McDonald (55.25) and Marcotti (51.37). In the three-meter diving finals, Asheville was paced by a school record 244.25 from Jade Canady along with a seventh-place finish from Amelia Ward with a lifetime-best score of 241.45. Ward's performance is fourth all-time in program history in the event.
 
Asheville landed two swimmers and two divers each in the A finals on Thursday, along with two divers in the A finals in the three-meter for the first time in program history.
 
Three Bulldogs qualified for the B finals in the 100 fly, while five Bulldogs qualified for the finals in the 400 IM. Smith led the way in the 100 fly with a 10th-place finish in a season-best 55.54. McDonald (55.60) swam a season-best to finish 11th, while Quisumbing posted a season-best 55.79 to finish 12th. Savanna Bush also finished 18th in the event in 57.86. Edmundson swam a season-best 4:24.04 to take fourth and qualify for the A finals in the 400 IM, while Lahiff finished sixth in 4:24.24 to also qualify for the A finals. Cunegatti punched her ticket to the B finals with an 11th-place finish in a season-best 4:27.74, while Halligan finished 12th in 4:28.61. Sciaudone also qualified for the B finals in 16th in a lifetime-best time of 4:32.86. Kathryn Walters (4:40.45) and Tess Peny (4:34.73) also swam season-bests in the event. Marcotti qualified for the A finals of the 200 free with a sixth-place finish in a season-best 1:50.11, while Hefner qualified for the B finals with a lifetime-best 1:50.66 to finish ninth and Crouse qualified for the B final with a 14th-place finish in a season-best 1:51.55. Jackson swam a freshman record 58.15 in the 100 IM time trial, while Miriam Wheatley swam a season-best 1:56.45 in the 200 free time trial.
 
On the diving board, Jade Canady (235.65, fifth) and Amelia Ward (224.70, seventh) qualified for the A finals while four Bulldogs competed in the B finals. Leigha Travis (241.15), Morgan Coughlen (220.40) and Vivian Fougeron (216.50) went 10-11-12 in the B finals, while Haley Fein (191.40) also finished 14th.
 
The Bulldogs return to the water tomorrow (Friday, Feb. 21) for the third day of competition. Prelims begin at 10:00 a.m. from Tennessee's Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center with video, live results and tickets available at www.uncabulldogs.com.
