Shemarr Session Earns Freshman of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Shemarr Session of the UNC Asheville track and field team has earned Big South Conference Freshman Runner of the Week honors following his performance at the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational. The announcement was made by the conference office on Thursday (Feb. 20).
Session competed in three events over the weekend, with his top finish being in the 200m, where he finished fourth in 21.35. Session currently holds the No. 2 fastest 200m time in program history at 21.27, and his time of 21.35 is his second-fastest 200m finish on the season.
Session was a part of the men's 4x400m relay team that finished fourth in 3:15.40. The relay team's finishing time is the second-fastest relay finish in program history.
Lastly, Session competed in the 60m hurdles. He qualified for the semifinal round of the hurdles with a time of 8.26 and missed the finals by one spot, as he finished ninth with a personal best time of 8.16 in the semifinal race.
Session is the third individual to earn conference weekly honors this season for Asheville, marking the first time in program history that three individuals earned conference weekly honors during indoor season.
Session and the Bulldogs return to action for the Big South Conference Indoor Championships Feb. 28-Mar. 1 in Columbia, S.C.
